About the Workshop
New River Conservancy, Blue Ridge RC&D, and Watauga Riverkeeper
are hosting a Shade Your Stream workshop.

Attendees will have the opportunity to
observe, ask questions, and install live stakes for streambank protection
following the educational presentation.
Experts will provide practical, cost-effective solutions using natural materials and
native plants to create a healthy stream-side environment.
The workshop will start off at the Blue Ridge Energy
building in Boone for classroom instruction and
lunch and then we’ll head about 15 minutes away take part
in a hands-on stream repair exercise on the New River at Todd Island Park.
Please wear shoes/boots that you don’t mind getting muddy.
Lunch will be provided at the workshop and participants will have the opportunity to
take home free live stakes to implement the skills they've learned.
**The workshop provides 4 hours of Criteria II or III credit
towards the N.C. Environmental Education Certification. **
